It is a good idea to give your home a thoroughly good deep clean at least a few times a year if not more.  Here’s how.

Start upstairs and work your way down.  Same applies to each room start at the top, ie ceiling and work your way down to the floor.  Take with you a bag of cleaning products and cloths as well as a black bin bag for any rubbish and unwanted items.

Bathrooms

Prepare each surface and let the cleaner get to work.  Pour some bleach/toilet cleaner around the rim and inside bowl of your toilet.  Wipe some lime scale remover over your shower doors.  Pour a little lime scale remover over the taps of basin and bath and shower attachment.  Using a feather duster or vacuum attachment de cobweb the room. Wipe clean light fitting.  Wipe down tiles with bathroom cleaner/disinfectant cleaner and damp cloth, then wipe to a shine with a clean dry cloth. Empty top and inside bathroom cabinet and chuck away any items that are either empty or no longer used.  Wipe clean top, all of inside and underneath.   Neatly place all the contents apart from the discarded ones.  Wipe the outside doors to the cabinet.  If mirrored I find a squeegee works well followed by a dry cloth.  Clean inside window if you have one. Moving onto the bath, I find cream cleaner the best product particularly if there is a scum around it.  Scrub the taps and shower fitting with a stainless steel scourer and buff with a clean, dry cloth.  Wipe clean the side of the bath.  Scrub the shower door with a stainless steel scourer, wipe with a wet cloth and use a squeegee to wipe away the water.  Buff dry with a clean, dry cloth.  Now scrub the inside of your toilet with a toilet brush.  Wipe clean with disinfectant cleaner all areas of your toilet not forgetting around the outside bowl and base as well as behind the toilet and pipes.  Finish off with vacuuming the floor and then wipe clean with a disinfectant cleaner.  Clean door to bathroom including architraves.

Bedrooms

Again, start at the top and decobweb from ceiling, check behind the curtains and light fitting, moving down the walls paying particular attention to the corners.  Wipe clean curtain rail.  Wipe clean or vacuum light and lamp shades.  Vaccum headboard if material otherwise dust with damp cloth.  Clean tops of wardrobes and outside all areas.  Empty bottom of wardrobe, vacuum if necessary and wipe clean with damp cloth.  Neatly place items back, discarding any unwanted ones.  Clean window frames, windows and window sills.  Empty chest of drawers and any other cupboards and sort out unwanted items, clean draws and or shelves and return items neatly away, wipe clean outside of cupboard.  Remove items on top and clean.  Replace items, dusting them first.  Repeat with bedside cabinets.  Wipe clean all skirting boards.  Pull out items from underneath bed, throw away any unwanted items, clean the items to keep.  Vacuum underneath the bed and mop if necessary.  Replace the items you are keeping.  Clean doors to bedrooms including architraves.
